The portrait
The Foundation
Deep red and historic white
The story goes that his trial was so ferocious the manager signed him partly out of self-preservation. Whatever the truth, he became the bedrock of an unbeaten season while barely out of his teens.
The portrait is all energy held in check: a broad smile hiding in the highlights, a defender's frame in the dark.
From the artist
I combined a fascination with pointillism and negative space to create illustrations that could be hung proudly on any style-conscious wall. Limited edition art prints of your sporting idols at reasonable prices.
